A group of microprocessor design engineer currently working in the labs of IBM, Intel, AMD, Motorola and elsewhere, trying to make a 10GHz processor becomes a reality. This chip not only has high clock speeds. They will have other capabilities that include architecture that can increase the parallelism, or the ability to process multiple instructions per-clock processor, and better access to larger data store.
Fred Pollack, an Intel fellow and director of Intel's Microprocessor Research Lab, predicts that 10GHz processor will have the ability to approximately 100 times more powerful than a Pentium III or Athlon 1GHz chip.
Later the engineers are believed 10GHz processors, will open a new panorama of applications, including voice-based computer interface and multimedia much better. Pollack presents another scenario for 10Ghz processors to be placed in your home PC.
