Burned Laptops, HP Pull Thousands of BatteriesComputer manufacturer Hewlett-Packard (HP) re recall thousands of laptop batteries in HP and Compaq hers after receiving reports that dozens of people suffering from burn injuries from the explosion on the laptop battery.
This time, there are 54 thousand units of lithium-ion batteries are withdrawn from circulation. Previously, HP also has attracted 70 thousand batteries for the same series.
A call to attract thousands of burning laptop batteries have been ordered by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in the U.S.. According to CPSC spokesman, Scott Wolfson, there were 38 reports suggested the case.
"There are at least eleven people who received minor injuries caused by the burning of these batteries," he said. HP laptop battery was reported on fire if charged for too long. According to Wolfson, the industry should take immediate action to remedy this problem.
HP itself argued, in the battery problem only affects HP products that are marketed over the range in August 2007 until July 2008. This troubled laptop batteries, HP claims, sold separately from the laptop that it manufactures.
