iPad be news, jokes & Internet Sensation When Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the name iPad, Wednesday (27/1/2010) in San Francisco, USA, for the latest tablet homemade, it was instantly become a laughingstock on the internet. In mikrobloging service Twitter, the name was the subject of funny because in English the connotation of the term for sanitary napkins, pads.
As soon as Steve Jobs described the product as something much more intimate than a laptop, the jokes started and quickly spread. Even on Twitter, the name has become joke material with the keyword "iTampon" and had become Trending topics.
That alone is not enough. Within hours, quickly circulated a link to the video made by MadTV year 2006 joke on YouTube that describes the device similar to the iPod which is associated with sex aids for women. So, jokes for Apple's product was not the first.
Apple itself has declined to comment about the name selection process and would not confirm how many women are involved in the election as reported by AP. Certainly, when it was launched, the three executives on the stage are all men.
Still, observers judged that the name iPad brand will not affect adversely the brand product. The reason, they are consistent with other Apple products are unique with the letter "i" in front, such as iPod, iPhone, and iMac.
Ira Kalb, director of the Center for Global Innovation at the University of Southern California, U.S., believes that the jokes are actually good for Apple. Jokes that he thinks more kick to spread the brand iPad on the internet and will disappear on its own.
